double effect evaporation system. See video of system operating at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6J52r-maPE. Capacity based on a brine stream at 24% to 50% strength. Feedstock of 32,000 lbs/hr(normal operating) or up to 50,000 lbs./hr. brine at ~ 20-25% NaBr is sent to the first effect, where it is strengthened to ~ 35% NaBr. The steam generated from this effect is used for heating on the second effect. Final target for brine leaving the second effect is 45-50% NaBr. The first effect (IPP Stock # 216077) (drum type)t is 2,000 gallon, and is manufactured by Paget. With a 400 sq.ft. "U" tube heater, this unit is operaing at 310 degrees F using 150# steam. The second effect is a modular, forced circulation system, designed by Swenson and manufactured by Four Corp. This effect is operating at atmospheric pressure and using the steam generated from the first effect to heat the second effect 838 sq. ft shell and tube heater(reboiler, IPP Stock # 216082). Overheads are condensed (IPP Stock # 216085). Product at ~ 50% NaBr is sent to storage. Circulation is acheived by a Goulds 6,000 gpm centrifugal pump. The first effect is a stand alone unit, the second effect is a modular system with all equipment mounted with in it's own framework. Instrumentation by Rosemount.
