What they are used for:

Drying bulk solids: This is their primary function. They excel at reducing the moisture content of materials like:

  • Minerals and ores: Coal, sand, limestone, clay, etc.

How they work:

Drum dryers consist of a large, rotating cylindrical drum. The material to be dried is fed into one end of the drum, while hot air or gas is blown through the drum, either in the same direction as the material flow (co-current) or in the opposite direction (counter-current). As the drum rotates, the material tumbles and comes into contact with the hot Drum, allowing moisture to evaporate. The dried material is then discharged from the other end of the drum.
