Additional Information: Flat bottom, with a center bottom discharge Chamber diameter 94.25". Inlet air to the chamber is heated by a direct gas fired air heater Gas Air heater is manufactured by Maxon, type Air Flow Burner series NP. The burner uses a spark ignited pilot and control is by Maxon Series "Q" butterfly valve. Hot air enters the chamber through an air distributor on top of the chamber. The distributor has vanes that are adjustable to control the air flow pattern into the chamber. As a standard feature, a cooling ring is built in around the inlet area. This prevents particles from becoming overheated in the event they contact this area. This prevents particles from becoming overheated in the event they contact this area. If the cooling chamber is needed, it will use 375 CFM at 2" W.C. Exhaust blower is manufactured by New York Blower, and is a type "P" pressure blower. It is rated for 750 cfm, and is belt driven by a 5 HP motor at 3600 rpm. Electrical spec for the blower motor is 3/60/230-460V and the motor style is TEFC. It sits on a 184 T frame. Shop used, surplus and secondhand spray dryers from IPP – in stock and optimized for fine powders and rapid moisture removal

For food, pharma and chemical operations, IPP’s ready-to-ship spray dryers help you save time and money with scalable, high-performance systems

Spray dryers convert liquids into dry powders by atomizing the feed into a hot air stream, allowing for fast, controlled evaporation. Ideal for heat-sensitive products, spray dryers are used in a wide range of industries to ensure consistent particle size, solubility and purity. With over 47 years of experience, IPP supplies surplus, secondhand and used spray dryers from 20 complete process plant sites and an unmatched inventory of more than 15,000 ready-to-ship systems.

Spray dryers can be configured for co-current, counter-current or mixed-flow operation and often feature cyclones, bag filters or scrubbers for product recovery and emission control.

Primary uses across industries

  • In pharmaceuticals and biotech, they dry active ingredients, enzymes, and injectables
  • In food and dairy, they process milk powders, proteins, flavors and instant beverages
  • In chemical manufacturing, they dry pigments, polymers, detergents and fine resins
  • In ceramics and materials science, they produce powders for advanced manufacturing

Types of materials processed

  • Liquid slurries and emulsions
  • Heat-sensitive solutions requiring fast drying
  • Products requiring controlled particle size and powder consistency

Common materials of construction

Spray dryers are built for cleanability, thermal resistance and corrosion protection:

  • Stainless steel for food, pharma and chemical processing
  • Hastelloy or specialty alloys for corrosive or reactive feeds
  • Sanitary finishes for cGMP environments and FDA compliance

Key features of spray dryers

  • Atomization for rapid surface drying
  • Adjustable inlet/outlet temperatures for thermal control
  • Multiple recovery systems (cyclones, bag filters, scrubbers)
  • Ideal for scale-up from pilot to production
  • Uniform particle size and high product yield
